As I traveled about Maricopa County in my work for Governor Napolitano, I heard from hundreds of citizens how much they want change in the County Attorney's Office. They're tired of scandals like the bogus New Times subpoenas and arrests. And they want new policies that value results over headlines, public safety over self-promotion, and justice over ideology.

County taxpayers are fed up with the $11 million (300%) increase in fees to private lawyers and the $2.4 million wasted on ads to promote the incumbent. They are troubled by the growing tension between the County Attorney and the courts. They want competence, integrity and fiscal responsibility from their justice system.

Our neighbors are worried because top-notch but demoralized prosecutors are leaving the Office in droves. They need a prosecutor's office that attracts and keeps our best public servants -- led by a County Attorney who is ethical, hard-working and dedicated to protecting our people.

I will make serious law enforcement my top priority. I'll fight for the rights of victims and the interests of taxpayers. I'll make fair decisions about the cases I bring, the sentences I seek and the lawyers I hire. And I'll promote -- not combat -- our Constitution and our courts.
